The Merchant Archive store first opened in 2007 when a chance meeting found owner Sophie Merchant trading dental hygiene for a life long love of design, fashion and in particular vintage.
Merchant Archive was previously housed in an old Lipton general store in Queen's Park and became a go-to for stylists, celebrities and designers alike. The shop has recently relocated to 19 Kensington Park Road in Notting Hill and continues to be a hub for creatives and a destination shop for vintage and fashion lovers.
New designers are sought and vintage is sourced worldwide by the owner Sophie Merchant using an ever growing base of dealers. Vintage pieces range from 1850s to 1950s and come sometimes include later pieces if they are a must-have at the shop including Ossie Clark, YSL and Dior.
Contemporary clothing brands include MiH jeans, Splendid, Emma Cook and American Retro. As for accessories we love a mix including Karen Walker sunglasses, Comme des Garcons wallets, Superga pumps, Jessica McCormack fine jewelry as well as new jewelry designers Noemi Klein, Susan O, Dorus Mhor.
Looking ahead, Merchant Archive will stock some exciting luxury British shoe designers and continue sourcing great vintage pieces. The eclectic mix of contemporary and vintage along with homeware, lingerie, books and our own brand candles makes MA an all around lifestyle boutique.
